The Vision Planning Report will be out shortly.
The Communications Focus Group is comprised of two Planning Teams, Prayer
and Media.
The Prayer Team bathes the entire church in prayer throughout the term
of the Vision Plan. They actively intercede on behalf of the Leadership
Team, the Vision Team, the Focus Groups, and the Church Body by developing
and facilitating prayer activities; such as prayer walks, fasting and
prayer retreats, prayer request hotlines and e-mail prayer updates.
The time commitment required to participate in the Prayer Team varies
depending upon the scope of the prayer programs adopted.
"Every
house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. Christ
is faithful as a son over God’s house. And we are his house,
if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast." Hebrews
3:4,6
The success or failure of the Vision Plan hinges to a great extent on
how well everyone is kept informed. Effective communications stimulate
supportive participation. Every member of the Church Body must understand
and take ownership of God’s long-range
vision for the church and the key role that they play in it. It should
never be taken for granted that everyone in the Body fully understands
the reasons that the Vision Plan process has been embraced. They will
desire to know how, when, and why new facilities are being planned.
The mission of the Media Team is to create and maintain enthusiasm
for the Vision Plan by defining and communicating what it will accomplish
for every member of the church and the surrounding community. The time
commitment required for participation on the Media Team ranges from
one to five hours per week, depending upon the stage of the Vision
Plan.
The Growth Group’s mission is to compile, analyze, and summarize
demographics relative to the church and the surrounding community and to
establish an accurate picture of the church’s future growth potential.
Their growth projections will help determine when the current church
property will be maximized. The time commitment required for participation
on the Growth Group ranges from one to five hours per week depending
upon the stage of the Vision Plan.
The Funding Group’s mission is to utilize information provided
by Vision Planning and selected financial institutions to determine the
most effective means of funding the long-range vision of the church.
The philosophy of ministry of the church with regard to borrowing and
capital stewardship will be taken into consideration each and every step
of the way. The time commitment required for participation on the Funding
Group ranges from one to five hours per week depending upon the stage
of the Vision Plan.
"Suppose one of you wants to build a tower.
Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough
money to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to
finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, saying, 'This
fellow began to build and was not able to finish.' " Luke
14:28-30
Two Planning Teams form the Design Group. They are the Exterior Team
and the Interior Team.
The Exterior Team’s mission is to analyze Vision Planning’s
Needs Assessment and the Growth Group and Funding Group’s Final
Reports to determine appropriate Master Plan phasing and the concept
and size of the next phase. The results will be delivered to Vision Planning’s
Architectural Team and an iterative design process will begin, culminating
in the completion of conceptual drawings. These drawing will include
a Master Site Plan, a Phased Development Plan, Elevations, next-phase
Floor Plans, and an Artistic Rendering. The time commitment required
for participation on the Exterior Team ranges from one to five hours
per week depending upon the stage of the Vision Plan.
The Interior Team’s mission is to use all of the forms and information
provided by Vision Planning to interview the staff and ministry leaders
of the church and determine their furnishing and equipment needs. The
Interior Team will inventory existing furnishings, develop a strategy
for liquidation of outdated equipment and furnishings, and gather catalogs,
reference materials and specifications on every new piece of furniture
required for the new facility. In addition, they will contact and interview
prospective vendors. At the completion of the Vision Plan they will provide
estimated furnishings, fixtures, and equipment cost breakdowns by line
item, with an estimated total. The time commitment required for participation
on the Interior Team ranges from one to five hours per week depending
upon the stage of the Vision Plan.
Two Planning Teams form the Building Group- the Property Team and the
Construction Team.
"Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders
labor in vain." Psalm
127:1
The church’s Leadership Team will establish the need for a Property
Team at the outset of the Vision Plan. If and when it is determined that
the acquisition of new land is pivotal to the fulfillment of the long-range
vision of the church, the Property Team will be formed. The Property
Team’s mission is to locate potential building sites and to determine
their suitability. After suitable sites have been cataloged, the Property
Team works with the Communications Team and the church’s Leadership
Team to develop relationships with the landowners of prospective sites.
The time commitment required for participation on the Property Team ranges
from one to five hours per week depending upon the stage of the Vision
Plan.
The Construction Team researches the various types and methods of construction
and evaluates the risks, benefits, and costs inherent in each method.
They study results from recently completed church building projects
in the area, interview prospective construction firms, and develop
a detailed cost estimate and estimated construction schedule. The time
commitment required for participation on the Construction Team ranges
from one to five hours per week depending upon the stage of the Vision
Plan.
