In May of 2004 First Baptist Church of Aztec voted to begin a process of relocation to a new property. That decision concluded one lengthy process and launched another. With the arrival of our new pastor in early 2005, the church has steadily pursued relocation as an inevitable outcome of intentionally reaching people for Christ. A two track process of (1) developing and planning ministry and (2) making preparations for relocation was adopted. Intensive lay leadership has allowed our pastor to focus on ministry while relocation planning continues. God provided for the acquisition of 76 acres of property within the city limits of Aztec for a new campus, without debt. Property Acquistion Teams and Design/Build teams are leading the church toward physical relocation as soon as possible.
The original 2004 decision described the problems of not relocating: "...the present location of our church properties has two serious problems as it relates to future growth of the church. One, our location does not have visibility to the entire community and area. Two, the property size limits growth to three hundred to three hundred fifty persons."
